Special education is the instruction that is specially designed to meet the unique needs of children who have difficulty learning in the conventional educational set up so they may have information and skills that other children are learning.
It is used for children who have sensory deficits (hearing and vision), slow learners, learning disabilities (dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia) and children not able to cope with routine classroom curriculum.
Basic idea is to go to child’s level and cognitive abilities, make specific programme according to his/ her need and to give education accordingly.
Often students with disabilities use misbehaviour to distract teachers and peers from the fact that they are having trouble with academic tasks.
Special educators are also able to help a child in dealing with challenging behaviour and anger management.
Common special needs include learning disabilities, communication disabilities, emotional and behavioural disorders, physical disabilities, and developmental disabilities.
